2. Look at the Oil and Butter Base
The fats and oils used in traditional soap influence characteristics such as hardness, lather and the overall feel of the finished bar.

That curing period matters.
As excess water leaves the soap, the bar becomes harder and more durable.

4. Don't Ignore Scent
You use soap constantly.
It should smell like something you actually enjoy.
